Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu”
  5. Turn on “Battery saver”

Lower Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Display” under “Device”
  3. If necessary, disable “Adaptive brightness”
  4. Tap “Brightness level” and drag the slider towards the left to decrease brightness
  5. Go back to “Display” and tap “Sleep”
  6. Select a lower timeout value, like “15 seconds”

Disable Connectivity When Not In Use:

NOTE: By turning off connectivity when not in use (such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, Bluetooth), you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “status” bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the tiles associated with “Bluetooth”, “Location” and “Wi-Fi” to turn off the features
  3. Go to the phone’s “Settings” menu
  4. Tap “Location” for more GPS options, then tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
  5. To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under "Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap the switch to disable “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot”

Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:

NOTE: Certain third party apps can affect your phone’s battery performance even when you don’t actively use them. This is due to the fact that some apps perform regular background processes, so by disabling / uninstalling unused apps you could improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
  3. Go to the “Downloaded” tab and select the desired application
  4. Tap “Disable” / “Force stop” to turn off the app
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By reducing sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  4. Select an account
  5. Clear the check boxes next to the sync options you want to turn off

Switch from 4G to 2G:

  1. Go to the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Select to use “2G”

Keep the OS Up to Date:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, so it’s recommended to keep your OS up to date. To check for OS updates:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “System” and tap “About phone”
  4. Tap “System updates” and follow the on-screen steps to download and apply an update (if available)
