Turn On Battery Saving Mode:
- Access the Settings menu
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Turn on Battery saver
Turn Off Connectivity When Unused:
NOTE: By turning off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth when the features are not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Location tiles to turn off these options
- Next, go to Settings
- Tap Location for additional GPS options
- Tap Mode and select Battery saving
- To disable Hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap to turn off Tethering & Mobile Hotspot
Use 2G Instead of 4G:
- Go to Settings
- Under Wireless & Networks, tap More
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Choose 2G
Lower Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open the Settings menu
- Tap Display under Device
- Disable Adaptive brightness if necessary
- Tap Brightness level
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen
- Go back to Display and tap Sleep
- Choose a lower timeout value, like 15 seconds
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By setting your accounts to sync less data / less often, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts
- Select an account type
- Tap your account and disable the desired sync options
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain applications can have a negative effect on your phones battery performance even when not in use, as they can perform regular background processes. Thus, by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the Settings menu
- Tap Apps under Device
- Go to the Downloaded screen
- Select the desired application
- Tap Disable / Force stop
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall > OK
Keep the OS Up to Date:
NOTE: Certain software updates can include improvements to battery life. Thus, its recommended that you keep your phone up to date at all times.
- Open the apps drawer
- Access the phones Settings menu
- Scroll down to System
- Tap About phone > System update
- If an update is available, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply it
