Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Access the phones Settings menu
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Turn on Battery saver
Disable Connectivity When Unused:
NOTE: By turning off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS when they are not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run. To do this:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the tiles associated with Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth to disable them
- Go to Settings
- For more GPS options, tap Location > Mode and select Battery saving
- To turn off Hotspot, first go back to Settings
- Then, tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Tap to disable Tethering & Mobile Hotspot
Use 2G Connectivity:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G connectivity. To do this:
- Open the phones Settings menu
- Under Wireless & networks, tap More
- Tap Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type and select 2G
Adjust Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Go to the Settings menu
- Under Device, tap Display
- Disable Adaptive brightness if necessary
- Tap Brightness level and drag the slider towards the left side of the screen to reduce luminosity
- Go back to Display and tap Sleep
- Choose a lower timeout value, such as 15 seconds
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Third party applications can affect battery life even when unused, assuming that they run regular background processes. Thus, by removing or disabling unused third party apps, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings
- Under Device, tap Apps
- Access the Downloaded tab
- Select the desired app
- Tap Force stop / Disable to turn off the app
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall > OK
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your accounts / apps to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Under Personal, tap Accounts
- Select an account type and clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
