Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Turn on “Battery saver”

Disable Connectivity When Unused:

NOTE: By turning off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS when they are not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run. To do this:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down
  2. Tap the tiles associated with “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” to disable them
  3. Go to “Settings”
  4. For more GPS options, tap “Location” > “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
  5. To turn off Hotspot, first go back to “Settings”
  6. Then, tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Tap to disable “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot”

Use 2G Connectivity:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G connectivity. To do this:

  1. Open the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Under “Wireless & networks”, tap “More”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type” and select “2G”

Adjust Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Go to the “Settings” menu
  2. Under “Device”, tap “Display”
  3. Disable “Adaptive brightness” if necessary
  4. Tap “Brightness level” and drag the slider towards the left side of the screen to reduce luminosity
  5. Go back to “Display” and tap “Sleep”
  6. Choose a lower timeout value, such as “15 seconds”

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Third party applications can affect battery life even when unused, assuming that they run regular background processes. Thus, by removing or disabling unused third party apps, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Under “Device”, tap “Apps”
  3. Access the “Downloaded” tab
  4. Select the desired app
  5. Tap “Force stop” / “Disable” to turn off the app
  6. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your accounts / apps to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Under “Personal”, tap “Accounts”
  4. Select an account type and clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
