WARNING! By factory resetting your phone, all your personal data stored on the devices internal memory will be removed, including contacts, media files, applications, downloaded content, ringtones etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values. However, data on the SIM / SD cards will not be removed.
NOTE: Before you factory reset your device, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can back up and restore data.
Factory Reset From Settings:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Access Settings
- Tap Backup & reset > Factory data reset
- Read the Warning pop-up and, when ready, tap Reset phone
- If your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter your PIN / password / pattern
- Tap Continue
- Tap Erase everything to confirm. After the reset is complete, your phone will perform a restart
Factory Reset via Android System Recovery:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or otherwise you are unable to perform a factory reset from the settings menu, alternatively you can reset the phone by performing a combination of button presses.
- First, make sure the phone is turned off
- Next, press and hold Volume Up and Power at the same time
- When the Android image appears, release the buttons and wait to gain access to the Recovery menu
- Once in the Android System Recovery menu, press Volume Down repeatedly to navigate to and highlight wipe data / factory reset
- Pressing Power will select the highlighted option
- Next, use Volume down to highlight Yes delete all user data
- Press Power to select the option and wait for the phone to reset
- After the phone has been reset Reboot system now will be highlighted
- Press Power one last time to confirm and reboot your device
Check for Software Updates:
NOTE: After you factory reset your device, its recommended to check if new software updates are available. To do this:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Scroll down to System
- Tap About phone > System update
- Check for updates and, if necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install any available software packages (NOTE: After the process is complete, a reboot may be required)
