Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: If one of your applications crashes, freezes, takes too much space inexplicably or is otherwise unresponsive, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the apps cache / data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all personal data stored within the app, including login and credit card information, profiles, high scores, settings etc. will be lost. To avoid losing data, clear only the apps cache.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Tap Apps
- Swipe to Downloaded or All
- Select the desired app
- Tap Clear cache > OK
- If necessary, tap Clear data > OK
Clear the Cache Partition:
NOTE: In case your phone doesnt work properly and youre considering master resetting it, you can try clearing the phones cache partition instead. This can yield similar results as a factory reset, without losing any of your personal data stored on the devices internal memory.
- First, turn off the phone
- Next, press and hold Volume Up and Power at the same time
- When the screen turns on, release Power
- Wait for the Android System Recovery menu to appear
- From the menu, navigate using Volume down and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Press Volume down to navigate Yes erase all user data
- Press Power to confirm
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt solve the problems, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can factory reset the device instead.
Reboot in Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party app on your device that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app from within Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, all third party apps are disabled by default. To reboot in Safe Mode:
- Wake the screen if necessary
- Press and hold Power
- From the power management dialogue box, tap and hold Power off
- Tap OK to confirm and reboot your phone in Safe Mode (once done, you should see a Safe Mode watermark in the lower-left corner of the screen)
- To uninstall an app, open the apps drawer and go to Settings
- Tap Apps and swipe to Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall
- Tap OK to confirm
- To exit safe mode, press and hold Power and then tap Power to restart your device as you normally would
