Turn On Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device”
  4. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  5. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Drag the “brightness” slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. For additional options, access “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  6. To reduce timeout duration, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps can perform regular background processes, and they can technically affect battery life even when they are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps” and make sure “All Apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
  4. Select the desired app
  5. Tap “Force stop” to disable the app, or tap “Uninstall” to remove the app

NOTE: An alternative method for uninstalling apps is to open the apps drawer, and dragging & dropping the app’s shortcut on top of the “Uninstall” area at the top of the screen

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing your applications / accounts’ sync settings to minimize sync, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  4. Select an account and disable the desired sync options

Disable Unused Connectivity Options:

NOTE: By disabling Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and Hotspot when they are not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” tiles to disable these features
  3. For more GPS options, go to “Settings”
  4. Tap “Location” > “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
  5. To turn off Wi-Fi Hotspot, go back to “Settings”
  6. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the switch to OFF

Switch to 2G Connectivity:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Under “Wireless & Networks”, tap “More”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Turn on “2G”

Keep The OS Up To Date:

NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life, and as such it’s recommended to keep the operating system up to date at all times. To check for OS updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Verify if a new update is available, and if applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install it. NOTE: The update process will require at least one reboot
