Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. While viewing the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Drag the “Brightness” slider towards the left hand side of the screen to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
  4. Tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. To decrease screen timeout duration, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value, such as “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling unused connectivity features including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” (GPS) and “Bluetooth” tiles to turn the features OFF
  3. Go to “Settings” for additional options
  4. Scroll to and tap “Location” (GPS)
  5. Tap “Mode” and turn “Battery saving” ON
  6. To turn Wi-Fi Hotspot OFF, return to “Settings”
  7. Then tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  8. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the switch OFF

Use 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Access “Mobile networks”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes, and thus they can affect battery life even when not in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps” and ensure “All Apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
  4. Tap the desired application
  5. Tap “Force stop” to disable the app, or tap “Uninstall” to remove the app from the phone

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your apps / accounts to reduce sync, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  4. Select an account to change its sync settings and reduce sync

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for OS updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if a new update is available for download
  5. If available, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update(s). NOTE: The update process will require at least one reboot. Save any unsaved work before proceeding
