Turn Battery Saving Mode ON:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu and enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when unused, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location (GPS) tiles to disable the features
- Open Settings for more options
- Then scroll to and tap Location
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & Portable hotspot and set the switch OFF to disable Wi-Fi hotspot
Use 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Under Wireless & Networks, tap More
- Go to Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Turn 2G On
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By reducing the sync of your apps / accounts, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts
- Tap an account to change its settings and reduce sync
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes, and thus they can potentially affect battery life even when they are not actively in use. By turning off or removing unused third party apps form the phone, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Make sure All Apps is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
- Select the desired application
- Tap Force Stop to turn the app Off, or tap Uninstall to remove the app from the phone
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes, and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for OS updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates and verify if a new update is available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update(s). (NOTE: the updating process will require at least one reboot. Save any unsaved work before proceeding)
