Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device”
  4. Tap “Battery” > “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Drag the “Brightness” slider towards the left side to decrease brightness
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Then scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value such as “30 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By turning Off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth and GPS when not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run. To do this:

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” tiles to turn these features OFF
  3. For additional GPS options, open “Settings” and tap “Location”
  4. Then, tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
  5. To disable Hotspot, return to “Settings”
  6. Then, tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the switch OFF to disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Select “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By reducing the amount of data synced by your apps / accounts, you might improve battery life in the long run. To do this:

  1. Access “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Accounts” and select an account
  4. Disable the desired (available) sync options

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party applications perform regular background processes, and thus they can technically affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps” and ensure “All Apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
  4. Select the desired application
  5. Tap “Force Stop” to disable the app, or tap “Uninstall” to remove the app from the phone

NOTE: Another method you can use for uninstalling apps is to open the apps drawer, and then dragging and dropping the desired app’s shortcut over the “Uninstall” section at the top of the screen (visible when dragging app shortcuts).

Keep the OS updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements, and it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for OS updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates” and check if a new update is available for download
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update. NOTE: this process will require at least one reboot
