Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease brightens
- Open Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Display and optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Sleep and select a lower timeout value
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling your phones connectivity features when they are not in use including Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth you can improve battery life in the long run.
- From the home screen, use two fingers to swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable these features
- Launch Settings
- For more GPS options, tap Location > Mode and enable Battery saving
- For Hotspot options, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and set the features switch OFF
Use 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Under Wireless & Networks, tap More
- Tap Mobile networks
- Go to Preferred network type and enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party applications, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Ensure All Apps is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
- Select the desired application
- To disable the app, tap Force Stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
NOTE: You can also remove an app by dragging its shortcut from the apps drawer and dropping it onto the Uninstall section at the top of the screen.
Change Sync Settings to Reduce Sync:
NOTE: By changing your apps/accounts sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select an existing account
- Disable the desired sync options
Keep the OS Up to Date:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for OS updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install it (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
