Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Turn “Battery saver” On

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
  3. Return to “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. Tap “Sleep” for screen timeout options and select a lower value

Turn the Phone’s Connectivity Features Off:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when unused – including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Location and Bluetooth - you may improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to turn the features Off
  3. Open “Settings” for additional options
  4. Go to “Location” and tap “Mode”
  5. Enable “Battery saving”
  6. Return to “Settings”
  7. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  8. Turn “Tethering & portable hotspot” Off

Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: IF your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Go to “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  4. Select the desired account
  5. Change the account’s settings to reduce sync

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Third party apps can perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. As such, by disabling or removing unused third party apps from your phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps”
  4. Ensure “All Apps” is selected in the drop-down menu
  5. Select the desired app and tap “Force Stop” to disable it
  6. To remove the app instead, tap “Uninstall”

NOTE: You can also remove an app by dragging its shortcut from the apps drawer and dropping it over the “Uninstall” section at the top.

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if a new update is available
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process (NOTE: The update process may require a reboot)
