Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Sleep and select a lower timeout value like 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling your phones connectivity features when unused, including GPS, Hotspot, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Tap the Bluetooth, Location and Wi-Fi quick toggles to disable the features
- Next open Settings and go to Location for more GPS options
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- To disable hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and set the feature Off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can improve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Under Device, tap Apps
- Access All Apps
- Select the desired app
- To disable the app, tap Disable / Force Stop
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select an account to change its sync settings
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life, and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available for download. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update. NOTE: The update process will require at least one reboot
