Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity options when unused, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location (GPS) quick toggles to turn these features Off
- Open Settings for more options
- Tap Location > Mode and select Battery saving
- To disable Hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & Portable hotspot and set the feature Off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks
- Open Settings
- Under Wireless & Networks, tap More
- Tap Mobile networks
- Go to Preferred network type and enable 2G
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
- Launch Settings
- Tap Display under Device
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- Lastly, tap Sleep and select a lower timeout value
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party applications perform background processes regularly, meaning that they can affect battery life even when they are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Ensure All Apps is selected in the drop-down menu
- Select the desired app
- To disable the app, tap Disable / Force Stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings to Reduce Sync:
NOTE: By changing your accounts sync options to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts
- Select an existing account
- Disable the desired sync options
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap "System updates
- Check if a new update is available. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update(s). NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
