Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
- Launch Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Display and turn Adaptive brightness On or Off
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when not in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Launch Settings
- For more GPS options, go to Location > Mode and enable Battery saving
- To turn Hotspot Off, tap More under Wireless & Networks in Settings
- Then tap Tethering & portable hotspot and disable the feature
Temporarily Use 2G Networks:
NOTE: In case your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily using 2G networks only.
- Open Settings
- Under Wireless & Networks, tap More
- Tap Mobile networks
- Access Preferred network type and enable 2G
Reduce Sync:
NOTE: By changing your accounts sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Tap Accounts under Personal
- Select the desired account
- Change the accounts sync settings to reduce sync
Minimize Third Party Applications:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Tap Apps under Device
- Ensure All apps is selected from the drop-down menu
- Select the desired app
- To turn the app off, tap Force stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: Certain OS updates can improve battery life, and as such its recommended to keep the software updated at all times. To check of new updates are available:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update(s) (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
