Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling your phone’s connectivity features when unused – such as Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and Hotspot – you can improve battery life in the long run. To do this:

  1. Swipe the notification bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Launch “Settings” for more options
  4. Access “Location” for GPS options and tap “Mode” > “Battery saving”
  5. To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & Mobile hotspot” to disable the features

Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery life, you can conserve the battery until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Preferred network” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Enable “2G”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the notification bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device”
  5. Tap “Display” and optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party applications perform regular background processes when not in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
  3. If necessary, switch to “All apps”
  4. Select the desired application
  5. To disable the app, tap “Disable” / “Force stop”
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates” and check if a new update is available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update. NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
