Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- From the Notification area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Launch Settings for more options
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Sleep for timeout options and choose a lower value
Disable the Phones Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth when not actively in use to improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and access Location
- Tap Mode and select Battery saving
- Go back to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and set the feature OFF
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Access Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phones battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Ensure All apps is selected in the drop-down menu
- Select the desired application
- Tap Force Stop to disable the app, or Uninstall to remove the app from the phone
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change the sync settings of your accounts to reduce sync and improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts
- Select an account
- Disable the desired sync options
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
