Back Up & Restore App Data:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Backup & reset
- Enable Back up my data to back up Wi-Fi passwords, app data, and settings to your Google backup account
- Enable Automatic restore to allow app data to be automatically restored when signing in with your Google backup account
Back Up & Restore Contacts:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap Accounts
- Tap an account type and the account you want to use for syncing
- Tick the Contacts check box
- Tap Menu > Sync Now
NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method can be automatically restored the next time you log in with the backup account.
Back Up Media Files On a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
- Enable Media device / File Transfer at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate your media files on the phone storage
- Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the PC storage
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
- Enable File Transfer / Media device at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media file backups on the PC storage
- Copy and paste the files to the phone storage, preferably in the Media directory or the folders of origin
- Once done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
