Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease brightness
  3. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
  4. Tap “Display” and turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  5. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by disabling the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down on the home screen with two fingers
  2. Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Location” and “Wi-Fi” quick toggles to turn the features off
  3. Launch “Settings” next and go to “Location” for GPS options
  4. Tap “Mode” > “Battery saving”
  5. To disable Hotspot, go to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and turn the feature OFF

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Go to “Mobile networks”
  4. Access “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by changing your accounts’ settings to reduce sync.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal”
  3. Select an account type and account
  4. Disable the desired sync options available to reduce sync

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life when they are not actively in use. Thus, by removing or disabling unused third party apps, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
  2. Tap “Apps” and select “All apps” from the drop-down menu
  3. Select the desired application
  4. To disable the app, tap “Force Stop”
  5. Alternatively, tap “Uninstall” to remove the app from the device

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life, and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll down to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Verify if a new update is available
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the update (NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot)
