Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to device
- Tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left side to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Sleep and select a lower timeout duration
Disable Connectivity When Not in Use:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not in use, such as Hotspot, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, to improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Location, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi quick toggles to disable the features
- Launch Settings
- Go to Location for GPS options
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- To turn off Hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and disable the feature
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change the accounts sync settings to reduce the amount of data synced in order to improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal and go to Accounts
- Select the desired account
- Change the desired settings to reduce sync
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phones battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the device, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Access All apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Force Stop / Disable to disable the app or:
- Tap Uninstall to remove the app from the phone
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates and check if a new update is available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
