Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “device”
  3. Tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout duration

Disable Connectivity When Not in Use:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not in use, such as Hotspot, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Location”, “Bluetooth” and “Wi-Fi” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Go to “Location” for GPS options
  5. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  6. To turn off Hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change the accounts’ sync settings to reduce the amount of data synced in order to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and go to “Accounts”
  3. Select the desired account
  4. Change the desired settings to reduce sync

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phone’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the device, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
  3. Access “All apps”
  4. Select the desired app
  5. Tap “Force Stop” / “Disable” to disable the app or:
  6. Tap “Uninstall” to remove the app from the phone

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates” and check if a new update is available for download
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
