Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Display and enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Sleep and select a lower timeout duration
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when they are not in use, including Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth to improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Bluetooth, Location and Wi-Fi quick toggles to disable the features
- Launch Settings and go to Location for more GPS options
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- To disable hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and disable the feature
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts sync settings to reduce sync in order to improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts
- Select the desired account
- Change the desired settings to reduce sync
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when they are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Go to All apps and select the desired application
- Tap Force stop / Disable to turn the app off
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates and check if a new update is available for download
- Check if a new update is available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
