Back Up & Restore App Data:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset”
  3. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
  4. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be restored automatically the next time you sign in with the backup account or reinstall the apps

Back Up & Restore Contacts:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and the account you want to use for contact syncing
  4. Ensure “Contacts” is checked and tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

NOTE: Contacts can be restored the next time you sign in with the backup account by syncing the account data – including contacts- with the device.

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer and copy the media files from the phone storage
  4. Transfer the files to the desired backup location on the PC storage
  5. Once done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port

Restore Media Files form a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File transfer” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media file backups on the PC storage
  5. Copy and transfer the backup files to the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder
  6. Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
