Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  3. Press “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. From the Notification area, drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease screen luminosity
  3. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
  4. Tap “Display” and optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  5. Tap “Sleep” for screen timeout options and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not in use, including Hotspot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS, to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Location” and “Wi-Fi” quick toggles to turn the features OFF
  3. Return to “Settings” and access “Location” for GPS options
  4. Next tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and turn the feature off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or juice pack, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings’
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Access “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change the sync settings of your accounts in order to reduce the amount of data synced, and improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal”
  3. Select an account type and the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the phone’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling the phone’s connectivity features, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps” and go to “All apps”
  4. Select the desired app and tap “Disable” or “Force Stop”
  5. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Verify if a new update is available
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process requires at least one reboot)
