Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Press Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Launch Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower timeout value like 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, in order to improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings
- Go to Location for GPS options, tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and set the feature OFF
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Access Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life when not actively in use. As such you can disable or remove unused third party apps from the device to improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Ensure All apps is selected
- Tap the desired application
- To disable the app, tap Force Stop
- To remove the app from the device, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts sync settings to reduce the amount of data synced by your accounts in order to improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select an account type
- Tap an account and change the available settings to reduce sync
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and as such its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
