Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery and press Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the devices connectivity features when not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, in order to improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- Launch Settings
- Access Location for GPS options
- Then tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Select Tethering & portable hotspot and disable the feature
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Go to Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phones battery life when not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third party apps from the device to improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps and ensure All apps is selected
- Tap the desired application
- To disable the app tap Force Stop
- To remove the app completely from the phone, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts settings you can reduce app sync to improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Verify if a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process (NOTE: the update will require at least one reboot)
