Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” and press “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the device’s connectivity features when not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, in order to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Access “Location” for GPS options
  5. Then tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  6. Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Select “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Go to “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Enable “2G”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  6. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phone’s battery life when not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third party apps from the device to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps” and ensure “All apps” is selected
  4. Tap the desired application
  5. To disable the app tap “Force Stop”
  6. To remove the app completely from the phone, tap “Uninstall”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ settings you can reduce app sync to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Verify if a new update is available
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process (NOTE: the update will require at least one reboot)
