Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device”
  5. Tap “Display” and enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value, such as “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can turn the phone’s connectivity features OFF when not in use, including Hotspot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS, to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down
  2. Tap the “Location”, “Bluetooth” and “Wi-Fi” quick toggles to turn the features OFF
  3. Next open “Settings” and go to “Location” (GPS)
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. To disable Hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and turn the features off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal”
  3. Go to “Accounts” and select the desired account
  4. Change the account’s settings to reduce sync

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. Thus by disabling or deleting unused third-party apps from the device, you can potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps” and go to “All apps”
  4. Select the desired app
  5. Tap “Force Stop” / “Disable” to turn the app off, or:
  6. Tap “Uninstall” to delete the app from the device

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To verify if new updates are available:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if a new update is available
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the update (NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot)
