Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- From the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open Settings for more options
- Go to Display and enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value
Enable Battery Saving:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Battery
- Tap Menu
- Turn Battery saver ON and adjust the setting as desired
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and conserve the phones battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location quick toggles to disable these features
- Go to Settings for more options and access Location (GPS)
- Tap mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks for hotspot options
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and disable the feature
Temporarily Use 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Reduce Sync:
NOTE: You can reduce the amount of data synced by your apps/accounts to improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Personal and tap Accounts
- Select an account type
- Tap the desired account and change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phones battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Apps and select All apps from the drop-down menu
- Select the desired application
- To disable the app, tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app, tap uninstall
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can improve battery life and as such its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Go to About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check whether new updates are available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
