Back Up & Restore App Data:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and access Backup & Reset
- Enable Back up my data to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
- Enable Automatic restore to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be restored automatically the next time you sign in with the backup account or when reinstalling apps
Back Up & Restore Contacts:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Select an account type and the account you want to use for syncing
- Make sure the Contacts check box is ticked
- Tap Menu > Sync Now
NOTE: Contacts backed up using the method above can be restored automatically the next time you sign in with the backup account.
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android phone to the PC via USB
- Enable Media device / File Transfer when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media files on the phone
- Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the PC
- Once done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB
Restore Media Files from a PC:
- Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
- Enable File Transfer / Media device on the phone, either at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Find the media file backups on the PC
- Transfer the media backup files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders from where they originate
- Once done you can safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
