Back Up & Restore App Data:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Personal”
  3. Tap “Backup & reset”
  4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
  5. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, passwords, and settings to be restored automatically when signing in with the backup account or when reinstalling apps

Back Up & Restore Contacts:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and the account you want to use for syncing your contacts
  4. Make sure the “Contacts” check box is ticked
  5. Then tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

NOTE: Contacts can be automatically restored the next time you sign in with the backup account or by manually syncing the account data, and contacts, with the Android phone.

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the PC via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media files on the Phone
  5. Copy and transfer the files to the desired backup location on the computer
  6. Once the transfer ends, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

Restore Media Files from a PC:

  1. Establish a USB connection between the phone and computer
  2. On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media file backups on the PC
  5. Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder or the directory from where they originate
  6. After the transfer ends, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
