Enable Battery Saver:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Launch Settings
- Go to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout durations, tap Sleep
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, to avoid unnecessary network scan and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, Swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings and go to Location for GPS options
- Tap Mode and select Battery saving
- Go back to Settings and access More under Wireless & Networks
- Disable Tethering & portable hotspot
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & networks
- Access Mobile networks
- Go to Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform background processes regularly, and this can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can improve battery life in the long run by removing or disabling unused third-party apps.
- Open Settings
- Go to Device
- Tap Apps and make sure All aps is selected in the drop-down menu
- Select the desired app
- To turn the app off, tap Force Stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change the sync settings of your accounts to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings
- Access Accounts and select an account type
- Select he desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll down to About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if new updates are available and if necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the update (the update process will require at least one reboot)
