Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Launch Settings and go to Device
- Tap Display
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout options, go to Sleep
- Select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Access Device
- Tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life.
- On the home screen, swipe the status bar down
- In the quick toggle area, tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location quick toggles to turn the features off
- Open Settings and go to Location for additional GPS options
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saver
- For hotspot options, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & Portable hotspot and turn the feature Off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Go to Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes and this can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. As such you can disable or remove unused third-party apps from the device to improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps
- Access All apps if necessary
- Select the desired app
- Tap Force Stop or Disable to turn the app off, or:
- Tap Uninstall to remove the app from the phone
Change Account Settings to Reduce Sync:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Select an account type
- Select the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life so its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:
- Go to Settings
- Access About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (the update process will require to reboot the phone at least once)
