Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings” and go to “Device”
  4. Tap “Display’
  5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” On or Off
  6. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings” for more options and go to “Location”
  4. Tap “mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. Return to “Settings”
  6. Tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Tap “Tethering & mobile hotspot” and disable the feature

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu”
  5. Enable “Battery saver”

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & networks”
  3. Access “Mobile networks”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”

Change Account Settings to Reduce Sync:

NOTE: By reducing the amount of data synced by your accounts you may improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Accounts” and select an account type
  4. Select an account and change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phone’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps from the device you may improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “Apps”
  3. Make sure you view “All apps”
  4. Select the desired app
  5. To disable the app, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Access “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if new updates are available
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update (the update will require you to reboot the phone at least once)
