Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Access Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Launch Settings and access Device
- Tap Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, access Sleep and select a lower value
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi Bluetooth and Location quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Go to Settings
- Access Location for more GPS options, then tap Mode and enable Battery saver
- For Hotspot options, return to Settings and tap more under Wireless & networks
- Tap Tethering & Portable hotspot and disable the feature
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Go to Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can disable or removed unused third-party apps to try and improve battery life.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps > All apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Disable or Force Stop to disable the app, or:
- Tap Uninstall to remove the app
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and as such its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:
- Go to Settings
- Access About phone > System updates
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the process will require you to reboot the phone at least once)
