Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Go to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  6. For timeout options, access “Sleep” and select a lower value like “15 seconds”

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can turn the phone’s connectivity features Off when not actively in use- including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Hotspot- in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” (GPS) and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to turn the features off
  3. Next open “Settings” and go to “Location” for more GPS options
  4. Then tap “mode” and enable “Battery saver”
  5. Return to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks” for Hotspot options
  6. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Go to “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when they are not actively in use. Thus you can potentially improve battery life by removing or disabling unused third-party apps form the phone.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps” and switch to “All apps” if necessary
  3. Select the desired app
  4. To disable the app, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Change Account Settings to Reduce Sync:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Access “Personal”
  3. Tap “Accounts”
  4. Select an account type
  5. Select an account and change the available settings to reduce sync

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates” and check if a new update is available for download
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update. Keep in mind that the update process will require at least one reboot
