Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings” and tap “Display”
  4. Enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  5. For timeout options tap “Sleep” and select a lower value

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the device’s connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Access “Location” for GPS options then tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the features

Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Enable “2G”

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phone’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps, you may improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Apps”
  3. Switch to “All apps” if necessary
  4. Select the desired app
  5. To turn the app off, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type
  4. Tap the desired account
  5. Change the available sync settings to reduce sync

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings’
  2. Go to “About phone” > “System updates”
  3. Check if a new update is available for download
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update (NOTE: the process will require to reboot the phone at least once)
