Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Tap “Display”
  5. Enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can turn the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use, including Hotspot, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS, in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Go to “Location” for additional GPS options and tap “Mode” then enable “Battery saving”
  5. Go back to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and turn the feature Off

Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Turn “2G” on

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type or the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps from the device, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps” and switch to “All apps” if necessary
  3. Select the desired app
  4. To turn the app off, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
  5. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if new updates are available
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update (NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot)
