Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease brightness
  3. Launch “Settings” for more options and go to “Device”
  4. Tap “Display” and optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  5. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value like “15 seconds”

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not in use, including Hotspot, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” (GPS) and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Go to “Location” > “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. To disable Hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “Wireless & Networks” under “More”
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Go to ‘Preferred network type” and enable “2G”

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps from the phone, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps” under “Device”
  3. Ensure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu
  4. Select the desired app
  5. To disable the app, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can reduce the amount of data synced by your accounts/ apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Accounts” and select the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life, and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone” > “System updates”
  3. Check if new updates are available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update. Note that the update process will require at least one reboot
