Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Access Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease brightness
- Open Settings for more options
- Go to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- Tap Sleep and select a lower value like 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not in use such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down with two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi Bluetooth and Location (GPS) quick toggles to turn off the features
- Open Settings and go to Location (GPS)
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and disable the feature
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Go to Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can reduce the amount of data synced by your apps/accounts and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Personal > Accounts
- Select an account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps from the device, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps under Device
- Ensure All apps is selected in the drop-down menu
- Select the desired app
- To turn the app off, tap Disable / Force Stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus its recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates and check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update. Note that the update process will require at least one reboot
