Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open Settings and go to Display
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout settings tap Sleep
- Select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Go to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi Location (GPS) and Bluetooth quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Launch Settings for more options
- Go to Location for GPS settings, then tap mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Disable Tethering & portable Hotspot
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Go to Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Select an account type
- Select an account and change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps
- Select All apps and the desired app
- To turn the app off, tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and its recommended to keep the OS updated at all times.
- Open Settings
- Access About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if new updates area available for download
- If so, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (the process will require at least one reboot)
