Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen swipe the Status bar down
- In the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Launch Settings for more options
- Go to Display and enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, go to Sleep and select a lower value like 15 seconds
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Device
- Tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi Bluetooth and Location quick toggles to disable the features
- Go to Settings for more options
- Tap Location > Mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Disable Tethering & mobile hotspot
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Go to Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Access Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. Thus you might improve battery life by removing or disabling unused third-party apps.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Apps
- If necessary, switch to All apps or Downloaded
- Select the desired app
- Tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Open Settings
- Access About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if new updates area available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update
