Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- In the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Launch Settings for more options and go to Display
- Optionally enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout settings, access Sleep and select a lower timeout value like 15 seconds
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Go to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phones connectivity features Off when not actively in use, including Hotspot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Location Wi-Fi and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings for more options
- Tap Location > Mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Disable Tethering & Mobile hotspot
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks,
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Go to Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can remove or disable unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps and switch to All apps or Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Disable / Force Stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Open Settings
- Access About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the update
