Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Device
- Tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- In the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Launch Settings for more options
- Access Display and optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout settings, tap Sleep and select a lower value like 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phones connectivity features Off when they are not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the feature
- Open Settings
- Go to Location for more GPS options
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and expand Wireless & Networks
- Then turn Tethering & mobile hotspot Off
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Expand Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the phones battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps and if necessary, switch to All apps or Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Disable / Force Stop
- To remove the app instead, tap uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your accounts or apps to reduce sync, you might improve battery life.
- Open Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life so its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Open Settings
- Go to About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if new updates are available for download
- If applicable, follow the prompts to download and apply the updates
