Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. From the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. Open “Settings” and go to “Display”
  4. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  5. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when they are not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. In the quick toggle area, tap the “Wi-Fi” “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Access “Location” and tap “mode”
  5. Enable “Battery saving”
  6. Return to “Settings” and expand “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Disable” Tethering & mobile hotspot”

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Go to “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You might be able to improve battery life by reducing the amount of data synced by your accounts.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the phone’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. Thus by disabling or removing unused third-party apps, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps” and switch to “All apps” or “Downloaded”
  3. Select the desired app
  4. Tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
  5. Alternatively, tap “Uninstall” to remove the app from the phone

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if new updates are available
  5. If applicable follow the prompts to complete the process
