Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings” > “Display”
  3. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  4. Access “Sleep” for timeout settings and select a lower value

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can turn the phone’s connectivity features Off when they are not actively in use in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Launch “Settings” and go to “Location” for more GPS options
  4. Tap “Menu” and select “Battery saving”
  5. Return to “Settings” and expand “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Turn “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot” Off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings” and access “Wireless & Networks”
  2. Tap “Mobile networks”
  3. Tap “preferred network type”
  4. Select “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type
  4. Select the desired account and change the available settings to reduce sync as you want

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps, you can potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Apps”
  3. Switch to “Downloaded” or “All apps”
  4. Select the desired app and tap “Force Stop” or “Disable”
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can potentially improve battery life and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available for download:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates” and check if new updates are available
  4. Follow the prompts to download and install the update
