Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open Settings and access Display
- Go to Advanced and tap Sleep for timeout options
- Select a lower timeout value
Enable Battery Optimization:
- Swipe up on the home screen
- Go to Settings > Battery
- Access Battery optimization
- You can tap an app to optimize it
- You can also tap Menu and enable Advanced optimization
Disable Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phones connectivity features Off when they are not actively in use to avoid unnecessary network scans. This can potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the GPS (Location) and Bluetooth quick toggles to turn the features off
- To disable Wi-Fi, tap and hold the Wi-Fi toggle
- Open Settings for more options
- To disable Wi-Fi hotspot, access Network & Internet
- Tap Hotspot & Tethering and select Wi-Fi hotspot
- Turn Wi-Fi hotspot off
Uninstall Third-Party Apps:
NOTE: Third-party apps can perform background processes regularly, which can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. To remove third-party applications:
- Launch Settings
- Access Apps & Notifications and switch to See all apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall > OK
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Swipe the home screen up from the bottom
- Open Settings
- Go to System > System update
- Tap Check for update
- If updates are available, follow the prompts to download and apply them
