Enable Battery Optimization:
- Open Settings
- Access Battery
- Tap Battery optimization
- Select the app you want to optimize
- Optionally, tap Menu and enable Advanced optimization
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- In the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open Settings and go to Display for additional options
- Tap Advanced > Sleep
- Select a lower timeout value
Remove Unused Third-Party Apps:
NOTE: Third-party apps can perform regular background processes and this can have a negative effect on battery life. By removing unused third-party apps, you can potentially improve battery life.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps & Notifications
- Switch to See all apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall > OK
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: you can potentially improve battery life by disabling the phones connectivity features when they are not actively in use and avoid unnecessary network scans.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the GPS (location) and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- Tap and hold the Wi-Fi toggle and turn the feature off
- For more options, go to Settings > Network & Internet
- Tap Hotspot & Tethering > Wi-Fi Hotspot and disable the features
Update the OS:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and its recommended to keep the OS updated. To check for new updates:
- Open Settings and tap System
- Tap System updates
- Tap Check for updates and if applicable, follow the prompts to download and install updates
