Checking the Amount of SD Storage:

  1. From the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Under "Phone", tap "Storage"
  4. You can view the "Available" storage value under "SD Card"

Formatting the SD Card:

WARNING! If you format the SD card, all the data stored on it will be lost. Everything will be wiped, so make sure you've backed up any important data before proceeding.

  1. While on the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Tap "Format SD card" under "SD Card"
  4. From the pop-up window, tap "Erase SD Card"
  5. Review the warning message and tap "Erase Everything" to confirm

Deleting and / or Opening Files on the SD Card

Opening or Deleting Files Using Your Smartphone:

  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  2. Launch the "My Files" application
  3. Tap "All files" > "SD memory card"
  4. Navigate to the file or folder that you wish to delete or open
  5. To open a file, simply tap it
  6. To delete a file, place a check mark next to it and tap the "Trash can"
  7. Tap "OK" to confirm

Opening or Deleting Files on the SD Card Using a Windows Computer:

  1. Use the USB cable to connect the HTC One E8 to your computer
  2. From the home screen, swipe the "Status" bar down
  3. Tap "USB Connected" > "Connect USB storage"
  4. An AutoPlay window should pop-up on the computer. From there, click "Open folder to view files" > "OK"
  5. Navigate to the desired files stored on the SD card
  6. To open a file, double-click it
  7. To delete a file, right-click it and click "Delete"
  8. After you are done, click the "Removable Storage" icon located in the system tray and safely disconnect your smartphone from the computer

Transferring Files between the SD Card and a Computer

Transferring Files between the SD card and a Windows Machine:

  1. Connect the HTC One E8 to the computer via USB
  2. Swipe the "notification" bar down and tap "USB Connected"
  3. Tap "Connect USB storage"
  4. From the AutoPlay window on the computer, click "Open folder to view files"
  5. Locate the files stored on the SD card
  6. Transfer the files as you see fit, between the computer's HDD and SD card
  7. Once the process is done, tap "Disconnect storage from PC" on the smartphone
  8. You can now safely disconnect the handset from the computer

Transferring Files Using a Mac Computer:

  1. If necessary, install HTC Sync Manager on your Mac
  2. Establish a connection between the One E8 and Mac via USB
  3. From the HTC Sync Manager window that appears on the Mac, follow the on-screen prompts to manage the files stored on the external storage

Changing the Default Storage Location for Application

NOTE: By default, the majority of applications use the smartphone's internal storage to save data. You can, however, change the default storage location to the SD card, if you so desire.

Changing the Storage Location for the "Internet" App:

  1. While on the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Launch the "Internet" app
  3. Press "Menu" and tap "Settings" > "Advanced"
  4. Tap "Download storage" and select "Storage Card"

Changing the Storage Location for the "Camera" App:

  1. Open the "Camera" application
  2. Press "Menu" and tap "Settings"
  3. Tap "Storage" and select to store the data on the "SD card"

Changing the Storage Location for the "Voice Recorder" App:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch the "Voice Recorder" application
  3. Tap "Menu" > "Settings"
  4. Tap "Storage" and select "SD Card"
