Enabling and Setting Power Saver Mode:
- Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
- Go to "Settings"
- Swipe to "Phone" and tap "Power" > "Power saver"
- Mark or clear the boxes associated with the features you wish to enable during Power saving mode
- Tap the "Power saver" switch to turn the feature "ON"
Decreasing Screen Brightness and adjusting Timeout Duration:
- Tap "Apps" from the home screen
- Go to "Settings" and scroll to "Phone"
- Tap "Display & gestures"
- Tap "Brightness level" and if necessary, clear the "Automatic brightness" check box
- Drag the brightness slider to the left to decrease the brightness
- Return to the "Display & gestures" menu and tap "Screen timeout"
- Select a lower value for the screen timeout like "15 seconds"
Disabling Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth and GPS:
NOTE: you should consider disabling Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot and GPS whenever these features are not in use. This can have a positive effect on your battery and increase autonomy by the end of the day. To disable them:
- Tap "Apps" from the home screen
- Go to "Settings"
- Tap the switch next to "Wi-Fi" and "Bluetooth" to turn these features "OFF"
- Go to "More" > "Mobile network sharing" and disable "Mobile Hotspot"
- To disable GPS, return to the "Settings" menu, tap "Location" under "Personal", tap "Mode" and select "Battery saving"
Changing Sync and Background Data Settings for Apps / Accounts:
- Go to the phone's "Settings" menu
- Tap "Accounts & Sync"
- Select an application to turn off background data, then tap the desired account's account name to enable or disable sync (NOTE: options will differ from one type of account to the other)
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Some third party apps can sync data often and perform tasks even when not in use. If you rarely use a certain 3rd party app yet has a big impact on your phone's battery life, you can either disable or uninstall it.
- Tap "Apps" from the home screen
- Go to "Settings"
- Under "Phone" tap "Apps"
- Access the "Downloaded" tab
- Select the desired app
- Tap "Disable" or "Uninstall"
- Press "OK" to confirm
Switch from 4G to 2G Connectivity:
- From the phone's "Settings" menu go to "Mobile data"
- Tap "Network mode"
- Select "GSM only" for 2G connectivity
- To use 3G, select "WCDMA only"
- For 4G LTE, select "GSM / WCDMA auto" or "GSM / WCDMA / LTE auto"
Check for Software Updates:
NOTE: Sometimes smartphone manufacturers and carriers release new software updates that can contain improvements to battery life. To check for updates:
- Tap "Apps" and go to "Settings"
- Tap "About" under "Phone"
- Tap "Software information"
- Tap "Check now" and follow the on-screen prompts assuming an update is available
