Transferring Contacts Using iTunes:
iTunes can be used to sync contacts from an iPhone with a Google account. Synced contacts include all the existing details, such as email addresses, notes and contact's image. To perform this guide, you need access to a computer with access to Internet and iTunes installed. (If you don't have iTunes, download the client from the Apple website).
- Launch iTunes on your computer
- Connect the iPhone to your PC via USB
- After it connects, the iPhone will appear in iTunes. Click on it
- Go to the "Info" tab and mark the "Sync Contacts With" check box. Choose "Google Contacts" from the drop-down menu
- If you haven't registered a Google account in iTunes before, do so. Otherwise, you can click "Configure" and select an existing account
- Click "Apply" and allow iTunes to sync your iPhone contacts with the account
- On the Desire 500, register the same Google account and set it so that it syncs contacts with your device. NOTE: to add an account, go to "Settings" > "Accounts"
Using iCloud to Transfer Contacts:
iCloud is a backup service that can export contacts in the form of a vCard file, using a computer with Internet connection. If you've used iCloud on your iPhone before, then the contacts stored on your handset should already be backed up on the iCloud account.
- Visit https://www.icloud.com/ on your computer
- Enter your iCloud account log in details
- Once logged in, click "Contacts" and choose the contacts that you want to export
- Click the "Settings" icon located in the lower-left side of the screen
- Click "Export vCard" and your computer will start downloading a VCF file containing the contacts
- Import the file to "Google Contacts". Alternatively, skip this step and perform the next one instead:
- Connect the Desire 500 to your computer and copy the vCard file in the phone's "sdcard" directory. Then, open the "People" app, tap "Manage contacts" > "Import / export" > "import from SD card" and follow the on-screen pop-ups to complete the process
Transferring Contacts through "My Contacts Backup":
My Contacts Backup is an iOS application that can export contacts from an iPhone in the form of a vCard file. The backup file can then be sent to an Android device via email. This method does not require access to a computer.
- From the App Store, download "My Contacts Backup" on your iPhone
- Open the application
- Tap "Backup" to create a vCard file containing your iPhone contacts
- Then, tap "Email" to attach the file to an email
- Send the email to your own Gmail address
- On the Desire 500, open the email and download the file
- Import the vCard's contents through the "People" app. Tap "Menu" > "Manage Contacts" > "Import / Export" etc.
Using "Send Anywhere" to Transfer Contacts:
Lastly, you can also use "Send Anywhere" to transfer your files and / or contacts from your iOS device to the Desire 500. This app transfers contacts through a P2P connection, and a computer is not required to complete the guide.
- From the Play Store, download "Send Anywhere" on the Desire 500
- Install the application on your iPhone from the App Store
- Open the app on both handsets
- On the iPhone (the sender device), tap "Send" > "Contacts"
- Select the contacts that you wish to transfer
- When ready, tap "Send" and choose a method of transfer. You can tap "Generate QR Code" and scan the code with the Desire 500. You can also tap "Receive" on the HTC device, and enter the randomly generated transfer code from your iPhone

Re: Transfer iPhone Contacts to the HTC Desire 500 via iTunes/ iCloud/ My Contacts Backup/ Send Anyw
Yes, these methods of transfer work on most Android smartphones, but certain steps differ. The method of importing a VCF / vCard file can differ from one phone to another, and it also differs if the phone has a microSD card or not. So, for instance, in order to import a VCF file on a Samsung Galaxy S4, you'd have to perform different steps than the ones explained for the Desire 500, in the import section of iCloud and My Contacts Backup.
