WARNING! When you master reset your smartphone all settings will return to default values, and all personal data stored on the internal memory will be lost, including custom ringtones, contacts, downloads, audio files, photos etc. If you need to back up your data before proceeding, follow this link to learn how.

Master Reset via the Settings Menu:

  1. Tap "Apps" while you view the home screen
  2. Access "Settings" and swipe to "Personal"
  3. Tap "Backup & reset"
  4. Enable or disable "Automatic backup" or "App data and settings restore"
  5. If you tap "Back up now", you can select to "Use mobile data connection" or "Switch to Wi-Fi connections"
  6. Tap "Reset phone"
  7. If your phone is protected by a lock screen, unlock it in order to proceed
  8. Optionally you can mark the check boxes next to "Erase SD card" and "Erase all data". WARNING! If you mark the "Erase SD card" option, all data stored on the external memory will be removed
  9. Review the "Warning" message and press "OK"

Master Reset via Recovery (Hardware Keys):

NOTE: If you cannot reset the phone following the steps above (your phone crashes, freezes etc.) then you might be able to reset it through the recovery menu. It can be accessed through a combination of keys, as explained below:

  1. Press and hold the "Power" button
  2. At the pop-up, tap "Power off"
  3. With the device turned off, press and hold the "Volume Down" key
  4. Press (and release) "Power", but keep holding "Volume Down"
  5. After three Androids appear at the bottom of the screen, release all buttons
  6. In the "HBOOT" menu, press "Volume down" to navigate to and highlight "Factory Reset"
  7. Press "Power" to select the highlighted option
  8. Your phone will now reset and you should get a prompt to reboot

Check for Software Updates:

NOTE: After you master reset your phone it is possible that certain updates that were previously applied will be lost. It's recommended that you check for software updates after a fresh reset. To do so:

  1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Swipe down to, and tap "About"
  4. Tap "Software updates" > "Check Now". In case an update is available, follow the on-screen steps to download and install it
