Back Up the HTC Desire 626 to Google Drive:
- From the home screen, swipe the "Status" bar down
- Go to "Settings" and tap "Backup & Reset"
- Tap "Backup account" > "HTC Account"
- Sign in with your HTC account, or alternatively use a Facebook or Google account
- In the "Cloud Storage" menu, tap "Google Drive" > "OK"
- Sign in with your Google account to gain access to Drive
- Tap "Automatic backup" to "ON" to allow auto backups
- To manually back up data, tap "Back up now"
- Optionally, you can set your phone to create daily backups via Wi-Fi by going to "Settings" > "Back up phone daily over Wi-Fi"
Restore Data from Google Drive After a Factory Reset:
- Once you reboot your phone for the first time after a fresh reset, tap "Restore from HTC Backup"
- Sign in with the account containing the backup
- Go to the history menu and choose the desired backup
- Tap "Next" and sign in with your Google account
- Allow HTC Backup to connect to Drive, and tap "Next" once the files have been restored
Create Local Backups and Restoring Data
Back Up Contacts:
- Open the "Phone" app
- Go to the "People" tab
- Press "Menu" > "Manage contacts"
- Tap "Import / Export contacts" and select "Export to SD Card"
- Tap "Export to phone storage"
- Choose the type of account you want to use
- To set a password for the backup file tap "Yes"
- Press "OK" to create the backup
Restore Contacts:
- Open "People" and press "Menu" > "Manage Contacts"
- Tap "Import / Export contacts"
- Select to "import from phone storage"
- Select an account if necessary, then choose the desired backup file and tap "OK"
- If the backup file and / or phone is protected by a password, enter it and tap "OK"
Back Up Messages:
- Open "Messages"
- Press "Menu" and tap "Backup / Restore SMS"
- Tap "Back up" > "Back up SMS"
- Optionally set a password for the backup file
- Type in the backup file's name and tap "OK"
Back Up Text Messages via Email:
- Launch "Messages" and press "Menu"
- Tap "Back up / Restore SMS"
- Tap "Back up" > "Back up SMS via email"
- Optionally, set a password for the file
- Enter the email address you want to use for the backup and send the email containing the attached backup file
NOTE: To restore messages, download the file from the email on your phone, and import it via "Messages"
Back Up / Restore Tasks:
- Open "Tasks"
- From the list of tasks, press "Menu"
- Tap "Import / Export"
- Tap "Export to SD card"
- To restore tasks, launch "Tasks"
- Press "Menu" > "Import / Export" > "Import from SD card"
Back Up the Dictionary:
- Go to the phone's "Settings" menu
- Tap "Language & Keyboard"
- Tap "HTC Sense Input" > "Personal dictionary"
- Press "Menu" and tap "Back up to storage"
- Tap "Back up to email" > "OK"
Restore a Dictionary:
- Access "Settings" and tap "Languages & Keyboard"
- Tap "HTC Sense Input" > "Personal dictionary"
- Press "Menu" > "Restore from storage" > "OK"
